I had to add the latest skein of Woods and Frozen Lake to the Sale section because when I was reskeining it I noticed a couple very small specs of red. Very small, its still a gorgeous colorway, one of my most popular. Who doesn’t love yarn on sale? Go buy it!

Tomorrow I’ll have another skein of Woods and Frozen Lake in Free Verse Sock up in the shop as well as another Christmas themed colorway, Candy Cane.

Yesterday and today I stocked up some new colorways, starting from top right:
Xanadu in Beat Sock, inspired by Coleridge’s Kubla Khan,
Crimson Queen in Beat Sock, a colorway I love so much I want to keep
our first self-striping colorway! Pinstripe in Free Verse Sock,
and a bit of delicious Orange Sherbet in Free Verse Sock.

I had another skein that did not turnout how I had hoped so I decided to keep it for myself. I think the colors will be great for Fawkes so I’m going to knit it up as a Shop Sample.

There will be more self-stripy goodness to come. I’ll be skeining yarn tonight and since it takes a while to do for self-striping I’ll only be doing that, I’ll dye them Tuesday… unless I can not sleep.

Last night I did a little experimenting and dyed up a little mini skein of self-striping yarn! Definitely fun stuff. .

It is a good deal more time and work to do self-striping so when I do offer it it will cost more than the usual sock yarns. It will be a Perfect Day Yarns special treat.
I probably wont ever do more than 3 stripes. I prefer the look of 2 but 3 is popular and lets face it, there’s more fun colors that way.

I didn’t think I’d try out 3 colors anytime soon but last night on a whim I decided to. I am very pleased.

I’m having a hell of a time individually photographing these skeins. Only a picture of Woods and Frozen Lake looks decent enough to use on the shop. I may try again after a nap, I’m not feeling well, I feel like someone beat me up last night, sore all over. This is the only picture where they all looked decent and even it’s not a great shot, blurry and Frolic in the Park is a bit too bright.

I also want to to say a giant thank you to Phaedra for everything she has done for me. She created my beautiful Shop layout and is the one who helped me  get my head out of the clouds and actually open up a shop. Thank you, Phaedra, for everything! If you need a web designer I highly recommend her, she is one of the most helpful and patient and creative women I know.

Yarn for Beat Sock arrived yesterday! And my scale broke last night.   So I wasn’t able to mix up some dye stock solutions, had to use what I had leftover so I redid a couple colors-Woods and Frozen Lake, Frolic in the Park & Nevermore as well as a Christmas themed colorway called Christmas Tree. There are no pics as the skeins are drying. Hopefully I’ll have everything re-skeined, photographed and up in the shop Monday night.

 I was asked if I was going to do any Christmas themed colorways and I hadn’t really thought about it but last night when I was left with one skein to dye and a little green left I thought, sure, why not. It turned out a pretty skein of green with some blues, reds, golds and bits of purple, it wont be repeated. Not sure if I’ll do any other Holiday colorways.

 I probably wont do anymore dyeing till Monday.

It has been fun reading what everyones favorite poems/poets are, I’m even enjoying hearing about who doesn’t like poetry and why (and there is nothing wrong with that! ). I love learning about people.

I thought it would be fun to let you know some of the contest stats so far-

I’m still waiting on my 100% superwash merino fingering yarn to arrive (this will be my Beat Sock). I will be dyeing up a few skeins of existing colorways first and then some new colorways, I’ll let you know when the yarn arrives and I start dyeing. 

Grand Opening Contest!

To celebrate the opening of Perfect Day Yarns we are having a contest!
